Pairing: JaeMin, Jae/Everyone
a late birthday gift for samikitty . sorry it's so short bb! i love you! happy belated birthday ♥
The first time JaeJoong says I love you Changmin almost misses it. It’s a whisper lost behind a late winter’s chill, low and husky in Changmin’s ear, and when Changmin turns to look, JaeJoong is smiling at the snowman in their neighbor’s yard.
When he catches Changmin staring he brushes some ice against the younger’s neck.
They wrestle in the snow until all their layers of clothing are soaked through.
“Yunnie-ah, I love you,”
Changmin doesn’t think he should be listening to this, a secret of sorts, a whisper tucked into the corners of their apartment.
But he does and his heart forgets how to beat.
“I love you too,”
He backtracks and locks his bedroom door behind him.
Changmin tries not to let it get to him. They are snuggled close on the couch one evening, the others too tired to stay up for the movie. The lead actress is just being startled into a kiss when JaeJoong leans his head against Changmin shoulder.
It’s okay because Changmin isn’t letting it get to him.
“I love you Changmin,” JaeJoong sighs, warm and happy.
And Changmin cracks, his feelings gushing through his senses like blood does a wound.
“Don’t do that.” He means every ounce of venom in his voice; hopes JaeJoong feels the sting just as much as he does.
“What?” The older boy is looking up at him, and the innocence, the complete obliviousness in his eyes is overwhelming.
“Don’t go around throwing I love you’s at everything that breathes.”
Changmin can’t bear the way JaeJoong’s face is screwing up in confusion, sincere confusion and it makes Changmin feel guilty, so he untangles himself from blankets and limbs and leaves.
JaeJoong stares after him.
It isn’t until Yoochun finally pounces on his bed and pins the youngest down until he spills his heart out does Changmin realize his mistake.
(it’s the fact that JaeJoong is JaeJoong, and the oldest has a love supply too vast to give to one person alone)
“Aw, jealous Minnie Mouse is cute,” Yoochun coos, pinching Changmin’s cheek too hard and getting a punch for it.
“Shut up,” Changmin can’t help but chuckle back, relieved and light now that he knows.
A comfortable silence settles down on them, Yoochun fingering the dip in Changmin’s shoulder as the youngest ponders.
“You should talk to him,” The baritone suggests matter-of-factly, and Changmin sighs.
But he doesn’t. He walks into the kitchen and sees Junsu clinging to JaeJoong’s back like a newborn monkey and the oldest is laughing and Changmin just can’t do it.
So he crawls into JaeJoong’s bed after everyone’s gone to sleep. He slithers under the covers until he is shamelessly pressed against JaeJoong’s side—hell, if Junsu can do it then why shouldn’t he be allowed to?
JaeJoong’s surprise melts when he maneuvers around, fronts now fitting together rather nicely and Changmin’s arms curl around the other’s too-thin waist.
Changmin nuzzles his nose in the crook of JaeJoong’s neck, breathing in JaeJoong and his heart swelling.
“Sorry I was such a drama queen,” JaeJoong smiles but Changmin doesn’t see.
“It’s okay,” He kisses the younger boy’s forehead, moving closer. “Minnie,”
“I love you most,”
He presses his smile into the hollow of JaeJoong’s throat.
“I love you too,”
